Altcoin Surge and Mysterious Transfer Spark Caution Amid Breakout
A recent surge in altcoin trading volume has triggered caution among investors, according to Glassnode data. Spot traders have been rotating into alternative cryptocurrencies at a pace not seen since September 2025, with total spot volume now running close to four times Bitcoin's own.
This increase in altcoin trading activity has often lined up with local tops in Bitcoin, as per Glassnode's analysis. The logic behind this is behavioral: traders tend to rotate into smaller caps when they feel confident, which usually happens after a strong Bitcoin run rather than before one.
Meanwhile, Strategy, the company formerly known as MicroStrategy, has transferred 3,568 BTC worth approximately $297 million from its wallets over a nine-hour window. However, it is unclear whether this transfer represents selling or simply a reorganization of wallet architecture.
Claude AI predicts that Bitcoin will hold its breakout for now but cautions that the signals argue for caution rather than chasing higher prices. The token currently trades near $84,285, up 0.94% on the day and holding above the level it reclaimed last week. However, the move has lost momentum.
The chart is still constructive, with Bitcoin holding above $82,303, which acts as support. AI predicts that Bitcoin will be decided at these levels: holding above $82,303 keeps the breakout structure intact, while a test above $88,000 to $90,000 would invalidate the local top argument. The bigger target of $98,330 is realistically a year-end objective.
