Altcoin Surge Outpaces Bitcoin as Oil Prices Fall
The cryptocurrency market witnessed significant gains on September 21, with Bitcoin and Ethereum climbing about 6%. However, it was the altcoins that led the rally, with some displaying gains of up to 27%.
The price increase can be attributed to a combination of factors, including softer oil prices and renewed demand for exchange-traded funds (ETFs). Lower energy prices tend to ease inflation concerns, which in turn supports risk sentiment across various markets. The recent decline in oil prices by around 3% also contributed to the market's positive sentiment.
The ETF demand played a crucial role in supporting the crypto market. According to Bloomberg, US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $593 million over Thursday and Friday, reversing earlier outflows. This influx of capital provided evidence of demand for regulated investment products linked to cryptocurrencies.
