Altcoins Under Pressure as Institutional Investors Build Positions Ahead of US Economic Releases
The cryptocurrency market is bracing for a volatile week ahead of key U.S. economic releases, and altcoins are getting attention as institutional investors build positions.
XRP and Quant have outperformed other major tokens in recent days, with XRP consolidating around $1.52 and Quant climbing from the $70 area to peaks near 350-370 after The Clearing House selected its technology for a tokenized-deposit network.
Binance is also making waves, having integrated MARSCOIN into its platform and offering eligible holders rewards in tokenized pre-IPO SpaceX shares (SPCXB). This move comes as the SEC and CFTC issue temporary regulatory relief, with the SEC's Innovation Exemption order relieving U.S. tokenized-stock venues from classification as 'exchanges' for five years.
The week ahead will be marked by a shift in liquidity toward Bitcoin and Ethereum, with smaller altcoins experiencing net outflows to exchanges. The record inflow of altcoins points to profit-taking by large holders of mid-tier assets, which could further shift capital toward the leading cryptocurrencies.
