Americans Doubt Trump's Crypto Profits as Election Looms

Share

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll has found that many Americans believe President Donald Trump and his family have profited inappropriately from cryptocurrency, a concern that could pose a political risk for Republicans ahead of the November midterm elections.

The poll, which was completed on Monday, found that 63% of respondents considered it inappropriate for Trump and his family to have profited from cryptocurrency since he returned to power. The survey also showed that half of Republican respondents believed Trump's business ties affected his presidency, while seven in ten said his crypto deals were appropriate.

Among the broader public, 69% of Americans said Trump's private business interests were influencing his presidential decisions, including about two-thirds of independents and nine in ten Democrats. The findings add a potential vulnerability for Republicans as control of Congress is contested in November.
