Amundi, Europe’s largest asset manager by assets, has taken a major step into blockchain-based investing by launching a tokenized share class of its STOXX Europe 600 equity index fund on Ethereum. This expansion follows the company’s earlier foray into tokenized money market funds, which debuted in November 2025. The new offering was developed in collaboration with CACEIS, a European asset-servicing firm that provided the necessary tokenization infrastructure. Amundi emphasized that the fund will remain accessible through traditional investment channels.
The STOXX Europe 600 Index fund tracks 600 large-, mid-, and small-cap companies across developed European markets. Amundi indicated plans to broaden its tokenized fund offerings, targeting institutional clients and digital platforms. The company highlighted potential benefits such as improved accessibility, faster settlement times, and greater operational efficiency.
This move comes as the global tokenized equities market experiences rapid growth, though the largest products are still predominantly tied to US companies or US-listed securities. As of Wednesday, November 4, the value of tokenized stocks reached $4.24 billion, marking a nearly 27% increase over the past 30 days, according to RWA.xyz data. The top 10 tokenized equity products by value are all linked to US-related assets, including Securitize, SpaceX, Circle, and Alphabet.
European financial firms have been advocating for regulatory reforms to keep pace with the US. In April, a coalition of 39 companies and industry groups urged the EU to expand asset eligibility, increase volume limits, and remove time restrictions under the bloc’s Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) Pilot Regime.
