Anchorage Digital acquires Routable to expand stablecoin corporate payments
Anchorage Digital, the first federally chartered crypto bank in the US, has acquired Routable, a payment orchestration platform. The deal, announced on October 6, 2026, aims to integrate stablecoins and tokenized deposits into corporate payments. Routable specializes in handling large-scale fiat transactions for vendors and contractors, and has seen over 100% growth in the last two years. Its clients include companies like Veho, Ethos, and Polestar.
After the acquisition, Routable will operate as Routable by Anchorage Digital. Anchorage plans to introduce stablecoin and tokenized deposit settlement options in the coming quarters, complementing Routable's existing fiat payment services. Stablecoins are tokens pegged to the dollar, while tokenized deposits represent bank deposits on a blockchain.
Anchorage has positioned itself as a compliance-friendly crypto company, holding licenses in the US, Singapore, and New York. The acquisition follows a $100 million investment from Tether in February 2026, which raised Anchorage's valuation to $4.2 billion. Routable's investors include Sam Altman and Joe Gebbia.
The deal allows Anchorage to enter the corporate payments space, offering stablecoins as an additional payment option. However, the success of this strategy depends on smooth integration and customer adoption of digital settlement options.
