Apple Takes Aim at Chatbots with Major Siri Upgrade
Apple has unveiled an upgraded version of its Siri voice assistant at WWDC26 on June 8, 2026. The new Siri AI features conversational dialogue, personal context awareness pulled from user messages, and web-based answers, making it a more formidable competitor to other chatbots like ChatGPT and Claude.
The revamped Siri is part of Apple's 'Project Campos' initiative, which has been in development for some time. The new version comes with a dedicated app for conversation history and enhanced onscreen awareness that lets it understand what you're looking at on your device.
One of the key advantages of the new Siri AI is its seamless integration with Apple devices. As Siri comes pre-installed on every iPhone, iPad, and Mac, Apple doesn't need to convince hundreds of millions of users to download a new app.
The company has also emphasized that Siri's architecture is built on a privacy-focused framework, leveraging its Apple Intelligence framework.
