Arbitrum Drops 4.19% Amid Token Unlock and Macro Pressure

Arbitrum's (ARB) price has dropped by 4.19% over the past 14 hours due to several factors, including an upcoming token unlock and a mildly risk-off macro and crypto backdrop.

The token unlock is set to occur around September 15, with approximately 90 million ARB tokens scheduled to be released. This has led to profit taking and selling pressure from holders who received earlier allocations or bought earlier in the rally, as well as short-term traders who are pre-positioning by shorting ARB or rotating out of it into less dilutive names.

Derivatives data shows that much of ARB's recent move is happening via perpetual futures rather than slow spot selling. The open interest in ARB perps has dropped about 4.3%, which is considered the weakest bleed on the board, and many longs are still paying positive funding to stay in positions even as price grinds lower.

Technical levels around $0.139-0.141 have become focal points for traders, with some describing this zone as 'key support' and outlining downside targets near $0.081-$0.086 dollars if it breaks.
