Arbitrum Faces Supply Expansion as DigiTap Offers Fixed Maximum
Arbitrum's (ARB) token supply is still expanding under its vesting schedule, which runs into 2027. A significant unlock of ARB tokens is scheduled for September, adding to the already circulating 6.68 billion tokens.
This expansion raises questions about the token's price recovery toward $0.50. While Arbitrum's technology remains established, and efforts to improve value capture are ongoing, a move toward $0.50 will depend on stronger demand absorbing continued token unlocks.
DigiTap ($TAP), on the other hand, offers a different supply narrative with its fixed 2 billion maximum supply and no additional minting beyond that hard cap.
The team's allocation is also noteworthy, with only 1% of the total TAP supply allocated to them, and those tokens locked for five years. This scarcity narrative is further strengthened by DigiTap's product economics, which includes 50% of app fee profits going toward open-market TAP buybacks and burns.
