Arbitrum's Stylus Adoption Sparks Technical Performance Gains
Arbitrum's adoption of Stylus in September 2026 is being driven by a team of key individuals. One of the primary focuses has been on technical performance, with the integration of Rust into WebAssembly allowing for faster execution and greater memory efficiency.
The dual-VM architecture enables different programming languages to coexist and interact seamlessly. The combination of the Rust SDK and Stylus VM allows developers to use the same types and validation logic across the chain boundary by compiling code to WebAssembly for execution on Arbitrum.
Developers can now use generic, storage-backed types for programming Solidity-equivalent smart contracts with optimal storage caching. The Nitro stack, which powers Arbitrum One and Arbitrum Nova, includes an Ethereum-compatible execution engine and a transaction sequencer.
The market has been volatile, with ARB trading as low as $0.097 in February 2026. However, the network still shows meaningful usage despite price fluctuations, with approximately 4.82 million transactions every 24 hours and 160,000 active addresses.
