Arc Mainnet Live: Bridging USDC with Circle's CCTP Infrastructure
Circle's Arc mainnet is now live, and users are wondering how to bridge USDC onto the network. The process involves burning native USDC on the source blockchain, which Circle verifies through its attestation infrastructure, and then minting an equivalent amount of native USDC on Arc.
The unique gas model of Arc allows users to pay fees in USDC itself, rather than acquiring a separate volatile token like ETH or SOL. This makes it simpler for new users to onboard onto the network.
Circle's CCTP provides the underlying infrastructure for bridging USDC, and users can do so through Circle's own consumer-facing USDC Bridge at bridge.usdc.com. However, the transfer might not work smoothly for every user in every location, especially since Arc Mainnet was not immediately available upon launch.
Before transferring funds, users should confirm that their wallet explicitly lists Arc Mainnet and not Arc Testnet. They should also be cautious when sending USDC to the wrong chain or recipient address, as this can make funds unrecoverable.
