Ark Invest Doubles Down on Coinbase Amid Revenue Miss
Cathie Wood's Ark Invest has continued its support for Coinbase by acquiring an additional $8 million worth of COIN stock on August 3. This brings the firm's total COIN holdings to $324.2 million, making it a significant player in Coinbase's ecosystem.
The purchase was made through three of Ark Invest's ETFs: ARKF, which acquired $716,300 worth of COIN; ARKK, which purchased $5.7 million; and ARKW, which bought $1.6 million. This move is seen as an attempt to maximize the discount window after Coinbase missed its Q2 revenue target.
Analysts remain bullish on Coinbase's stock, despite its recent decline of 68% from its peak of $444.65 in 2025. The consensus target price is $215, indicating a potential upside of 46% from the current value of $146. Analysts such as Cantor Fitzgerald, Goldman Sachs, and Mizuho have issued an overweight rating on COIN.
Despite criticism that Coinbase's market share is being threatened by Robinhood and Hyperliquid, Ark Invest continues to bet on both crypto infrastructure players. The firm's confidence in Coinbase's growth potential has led to this significant investment, which is expected to contribute positively to the company's future prospects.
