Ark Invest Snaps Up Coinbase and Robinhood Amid Market Slide
Ark Invest has made significant moves in its portfolio by purchasing shares of Coinbase and Robinhood Markets. The firm acquired 22,452 shares of Coinbase through three of its exchange-traded funds for approximately $4.1 million, based on the closing price of $182.36. Ark also picked up 158,587 shares of Robinhood, valued at around $12 million with a closing price of $76.07.
The buys were part of broader portfolio activity, as Ark's filings show it added positions in several other companies, while trimming holdings in others. ETF analyst James Seyffart noted that Ark executed a larger volume of trades than typical for a single session, suggesting the day's market weakness prompted a wider repositioning across its funds.
The purchases follow a pattern of active trading around COIN in recent months. Last month, Ark resumed buying Coinbase shares after a period of selling, acquiring approximately $15.2 million worth of stock. This comes as Coinbase faces a difficult earnings period, reporting a net loss for the fourth quarter of 2025 and a drop in transaction revenue.
Ark's decision to add at lower prices suggests the firm views the sell-off as temporary, choosing to maintain exposure to crypto-related equities at a time when broader market pressure has weighed on the sector.
