Armed Man Arrested at Trump Golf Course Ahead of Presidential Visit
A man was arrested at the Trump National Golf Club in Southern California on Sunday afternoon after authorities found ammunition and a loaded pistol in his vehicle. The Secret Service is investigating whether Jeanine John Taele, 38, posed a threat to President Donald Trump, who visited the golf course on Tuesday.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for California's Central District, federal agents noticed Taele wandering around the golf course while wearing an earpiece and taking photographs of their security-planning activities on Friday. When he returned on Sunday, staff alerted authorities, who detained him after discovering a magazine with ammunition in his pants pocket.
A search of his pick-up truck yielded additional loaded magazines, binoculars, and a badge reading 'security protection agent'. Taele faces federal and state charges for firearms-related offenses, including carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He was ordered not to possess weapons or leave the state and is set to appear in court on August 26.
