Armstrong Threatens to Leave California Over Billionaire Tax Plan
Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong has made headlines for his appearance on the Katie Miller Podcast. In the interview, he criticized California's plan to tax billionaires, calling it an 'unconstitutional asset seizure.'
Armstrong also expressed support for Donald Trump and his administration, stating that Coinbase was open to 'any and all options in terms of relocation' if the wealth tax were to pass.
This is not the first time Armstrong has threatened to leave California. In 2021, he stated that Coinbase would be closing its San Francisco offices for good, but instead signed a four-year lease on 150,000 square feet of office space in 2025.
Armstrong's appearance on the podcast has been met with criticism, with some accusing him of attempting to ingratiate himself with the Trump administration. Miller, the host, is a Republican stalwart and briefly worked for Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency.
