Austria Imposes First Public Sanction Under MiCA Regulation
The Austrian Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has imposed a €70.000 fine on an unnamed European cryptocurrency platform.
This marks the first public sanction under the MiCA Regulation in Austria, stemming from violations in the presentation of white papers and commercial communications.
The platform was found to have failed to submit the required white paper within the specified timeframe, at least 20 business days before its official release.
This measure aims to ensure that information provided to users is accurate, transparent, and compliant with regulations before assets are launched on the market.
The FMA also noted significant irregularities in the company's marketing communications, including distributing advertising material before publishing the relevant white paper.
