Avalanche Sets September 22 Mainnet Upgrade Date for Helicon
Avalanche's next mainnet upgrade is scheduled for September 22 at 15:00 UTC, according to the latest release notes from Ava Labs. The Helicon upgrade, as it's known, will bring a new set of Avalanche Community Proposals into the network and raise the plugin version used by Avalanche applications.
Node operators are being told to update their software before the activation time, which gives validators a short window to prepare. If consensus software changes and part of the validator set runs incompatible rules, nodes can disagree about what constitutes a valid block.
The Helicon upgrade continues Avalanche's regular cycle of protocol improvements, which developers have increasingly bundled into scheduled activation windows. This approach makes it easier for developers to plan around software and protocol changes.
