AX1, a startup ecosystem on Base, has introduced AX1 Console 2.0, a new type of platform called an agentic activities launchpad. Unlike traditional token launchpads or agent launchpads, this platform focuses on launching AI agents with specific tasks to perform. Each task, or 'quest,' involves the agent paying for a service, completing the work, and settling the payment publicly onchain.
The platform leverages the x402 payment standard, introduced by Coinbase in 2025, which allows software to pay for web requests in USDC without needing an account or API key. This is crucial for agentic activities, as it enables agents to pay for their own work and leaves a transparent record on Base.
Console 2.0 simplifies the user experience by creating an agent and covering its initial runs automatically. The first quest, called Verdict, allows users to pick a token, and the agent then scans its onchain activity and trading metrics to return a verdict card. This is designed as entertainment rather than trading advice, with weekly contests and prizes paid in SPCXc, Coinbase's tokenized SpaceX stock on Base.
Since paid quests launched on September 7, 5,669 agent wallets have paid for runs, with Console's transaction volume reaching 605,876 x402 payments. The platform has been among the top five sellers by transactions and paying agents over the last 30 days, placing it among the leading x402 apps on Base.
AX1 plans to expand the types of quests available, partnering with apps like sport.fun, Upshot, Clash of Coins, and BlockRun. Future updates include head-to-head agent competitions and more partner quests, turning app products into paid jobs for agents.
