AxLabs Deploys Full Ax402 Stack on Neo X
AxLabs has successfully deployed the full Ax402 stack on Neo X, providing developers with a live payment infrastructure to monetize REST APIs, restrict resource access behind a stablecoin paywall, and enable AI agents to make payments programmatically.
The Ax402 stack, built on the x402 protocol, repurposes the HTTP 402 Payment Required status code as the trigger for machine-to-machine payments. Initially launched on Neo X in July, the gateway integrated through xGAS, a wrapped GAS token deployed by Bane Labs, offering a Neo-native settlement option alongside $USDC support.
The release of Ax402 marks its transition from an initial launch to full production deployment. The stack enables AI agents and API consumers to pay for resources on a per-request basis without accounts, subscriptions, or checkout flows. For example, research agents can now pay for single queries to premium data APIs, while coding agents can run specialized security scans by paying accordingly.
