BabyDoge Buys LimeWire, Gaining Access to 8M Monthly Users
LimeWire, a file-sharing platform that defined downloading in the early 2000s, has been acquired by BabyDoge's community of over 3 million people. The new owners now have access to LimeWire's 8 million monthly users.
The agreement was announced on September 14, with no financial terms disclosed. Abel Czupor will assume operational control of the platform, taking over from Julian and Paul Zehetmayr, who are stepping down as heads of LimeWire.
Czupor's relaunch centers around creator ownership and decentralized storage, as well as AI-powered content tools. He believes that 'the internet is broken' and wants artists, writers, and researchers to have control over how their work is used.
