BALBOA | CORP Bolsters Advisory Board with Banking Veterans Campbell and Douglas
BALBOA | CORP, a Panama-based stablecoin infrastructure company, has strengthened its advisory board with two high-profile appointments. Austin Campbell, former Head of Treasury at Paxos and founder of Zero Knowledge Group, joins alongside Richard Douglas, a three-time fintech founder. The additions bring traditional banking expertise to BALBOA | CORP's efforts in developing USD-backed stablecoin BALBOA1 for cross-border trade settlement.
The appointments come as the company advances its stablecoin infrastructure, which supports same-day international payments and on- and off-ramp access across 150 countries. BALBOA1 is built to operate within formal trade-finance structures, addressing payment delays in global trade and offering a USD-native hedge for institutional use.
Campbell expressed support for the platform's mission, citing its compliance architecture and programmability as key features that make it viable for trade finance counterparties. Douglas framed the company's goal as building the rails to synchronize money and cargo, reducing demurrage costs and providing governance and risk controls required by regulators and shipping operators.
The appointments reflect a broader shift in the stablecoin market, with issuers targeting institutional payment rails, escrow, and trade-finance infrastructure. Panama's geography and role as home to the world's largest shipping registry give BALBOA | CORP a natural distribution angle.
