Baselayer Secures $35M to Develop AI Agent Identity Infrastructure
Baselayer, a company specializing in business verification for financial institutions, has secured $35M in Series A funding. This brings the total funding to approximately $40M.
The funds will be used to build identity infrastructure for AI agents, which are increasingly being used to handle payments and execute transactions on behalf of companies and individuals.
The company's new Agentic Identity Suite uses cryptographic credentials to verify three things about any AI agent: its origin, the entity it represents, and whether it has the authority to perform a specific action. This is designed to prevent fraud and ensure that AI agents are not misused for malicious purposes.
