Belarus has taken a significant step in embracing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology by approving its first crypto banks. This move comes after President Lukashenko signed Decree No. 19 in January 2026, which created a legal framework for Bitcoin and crypto banks.

The National Bank of Belarus will oversee the operations of these new crypto banks, while the High-Tech Park will provide regulatory support. The first two crypto banks have already been approved, with more expected to follow suit.

Dmitry Kalechits, a representative from the High-Tech Park supervisory board secretariat, stated that this move would 'improve the flow of the financial ecosystem' and drive foreign investment into Belarus.
