Ben McKenzie's Anti-Crypto Documentary Goes Rogue

Share

Actor and economist Ben McKenzie's documentary 'Everyone Is Lying to You for Money' takes aim at the cryptocurrency industry, portraying it as corrupt and in need of regulation. The film has received nearly universal praise but is being released during a time when President Donald Trump has profited $1.4 billion from crypto-related income.

The major streaming services were initially hesitant to license the documentary due to potential backlash from the Trump administration, according to McKenzie. He believes it's an easy decision for corporations to avoid controversy by not buying the film.

McKenzie has chosen to release the movie through Eventive, a digital platform that allows indie films to reach audiences without traditional gatekeepers. The film will be available to rent or buy on August 22 and will also include a live Q&A session with the cast and cryptocurrency experts.
