Binance Enters Wealth Management, Targets High-Net-Worth Clients
Binance has expanded its Capital Connect platform to individual investors for the first time. To participate, users must have at least $1 million in assets or VIP 3 status on the exchange.
Capital Connect offers 212 portfolios from 77 trading teams, allowing users to compare and invest in various strategies built by professional trading teams. This move marks a significant shift as Binance enters the wealth management space, traditionally dominated by private banks.
Catherine Chen, who runs Binance's VIP and institutional arm, stated that this is simply Binance responding to what wealthy users were already asking for. The platform uses Portfolio Accounts, which handle fees, risk tracking, and performance data, making it easier for users to invest in various strategies without the need for extensive paperwork.
Binance has been gradually scaling up its Capital Connect platform since May 2023, with the current iteration featuring a significant increase in available portfolios and trading teams. This expansion is seen as an attempt by Binance to capture high-net-worth adoption and generate steady revenue through wealth management services.
