Binance Invests $100m in Circle for Expanded USDC Integration
Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has expanded its partnership with Circle Internet Group through a new five-year commercial agreement and $100 million equity investment. The deal involves Binance promoting and integrating USDC (USD Coin) across its platform, focusing on emerging markets.
Circle received approval to establish a US national trust bank, while Marex began accepting USDC as collateral for certain derivatives transactions. Binance has also expanded access to US stocks for users outside the US, allowing purchases funded by USDC, USDT (Tether), and selected cryptocurrencies.
Binance's investment will not be transferable for up to two years from the closing date, subject to customary exceptions. The companies did not disclose further financial terms of the five-year commercial agreement.
