Binance Banks Big on USDC with $100M Circle Investment
Binance, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in the world, has invested $100 million in Circle, the issuer of the popular stablecoin USDC. This investment marks a significant expansion of their existing partnership and is part of a new five-year agreement to increase the global adoption of USDC.
The deal sees Binance acquire ordinary shares in Circle at a 5% discount, with an agreement not to sell or transfer them for up to two years. This move reflects Binance's 'long-duration conviction' in Circle, according to co-CEO Richard Teng.
USDC has seen rapid growth over the past two years, emerging as one of crypto's strongest growth stories. The sector's combined value has climbed above $306 billion since the passage of the Genius Act in 2025, a federal framework for stablecoins.
