Binance Migrates Crypto Assets Ahead of Stocks Infrastructure Upgrade
Binance has begun migrating non-stock crypto assets from Funding Accounts into Spot Accounts as part of its efforts to reorganize user balances and separate ordinary crypto activity from stock-trading infrastructure.
The migration, which started on September 29, will continue in stages through January 2027. Funding Accounts, which will eventually be renamed Stocks Accounts, are currently used for settlement of stocks and stock options, as well as a limited set of supported settlement assets, including USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, BNB, and others.
Binance's decision to create a dedicated account type for tokenized stocks and stock options is aimed at creating cleaner settlement and accounting infrastructure. The exchange has been expanding its offerings in this area, and the separation will allow it to better manage these instruments.
