Binance Pay Brings Crypto Payments to Japan's Largest Payment Network
Japan's largest payment network has expanded its services to include cryptocurrency payments via Binance Pay. On September 30, PayPay integrated Binance Pay through the HIVEX cross-border network, allowing eligible overseas visitors to pay at participating offline Japanese stores using their Binance crypto balances. The funds are automatically converted to Japanese yen during payment.
The feature supports over 100 cryptocurrencies, including USDT, USDC, BTC, ETH, and BNB. However, it excludes Japan residents and certain merchant categories, such as online platforms and some taxis. Payments and refunds are considered separate transactions, with the amount returned potentially differing due to rate fluctuations and foreign-exchange spreads.
The integration is available exclusively for visitors who have completed Binance's identity verification process. This means that only verified users can access their crypto balances to make payments in Japanese yen.
For eligible visitors, this new feature provides a convenient way to fund purchases directly from their Binance crypto accounts, eliminating the need to exchange currency or use other payment methods.
