Binance has begun restoring customer withdrawals in stages following a massive cyberattack that targeted the exchange on Friday. The hackers attempted to steal over $6 billion, marking the largest digital-asset heist ever recorded. The platform, which is the world’s largest crypto exchange, temporarily halted all withdrawals to contain the breach.
The first phase of withdrawals started around 2 p.m. in Singapore, with Bitcoin leading the resumption. Binance announced on X that 15 tokens, including Ether and major stablecoins like Tether’s USDT and Circle Internet Group’s USDC, would be included in this initial phase.
The breach was disclosed early Friday morning in Asia, prompting Binance to immediately suspend withdrawals to protect user funds. The phased approach aims to ensure security while gradually restoring full functionality.
