Binance Sees Record Bitcoin Outflows Amid Whale Stablecoin Inflows
Binance has experienced its highest Bitcoin outflows in over three years, with a net outflow of 23,137 BTC in the week ending September 27. This marks the largest weekly outflow since June 2023, according to data from CryptoQuant. The total BTC reserves on Binance have dropped by nearly 40,000 BTC since September 20, indicating a broader shift in Bitcoin liquidity.
The significant outflows suggest that traders are moving Bitcoin off the exchange, a behavior often associated with long-term accumulation rather than short-term trading. Historical data shows that similar outflows have preceded periods of market strength, potentially setting the stage for Bitcoin to break out of its current trading range between $82,500 and $87,400.
While Bitcoin reserves are declining, whale-linked entities have been increasing stablecoin inflows to Binance. Over a six-week period from mid-August to the end of September, rolling 30-day stablecoin inflows rose by 40%, from $21.7 billion to $30.5 billion. Stablecoins are often seen as "dry powder" for future buying, indicating that large traders are positioning themselves for potential market opportunities.
The combination of Bitcoin outflows and stablecoin inflows creates a dynamic where reduced sell pressure coincides with increased readiness to buy. This asymmetry could influence Bitcoin's ability to break out of its current range, especially with the overhead resistance level near $87,570 in focus.
