Bitcoin Adoption Shifts to Ecosystem Building
The conversation around bitcoin ownership has shifted towards what gets built on top of it, according to TD Cowen equity analyst Lance Vitanza.
At the recent Bitcoin Treasuries Conference in New York, panelists discussed capital markets, implementation frameworks, and institutional infrastructure being developed around bitcoin.
The first theme was financing, with attendees assuming that structures such as bitcoin-backed bonds, preferred shares, and convertible securities will continue to develop. TD Cowen noted that strategy is already using these structures, having bought another 1,665 BTC and repurchased $152 million of its STRC preferred stock on September 28.
The second theme was implementation, covering portfolio allocation, estate planning, and day-to-day treasury operations. BlackRock representatives described spot ETFs such as the iShares Bitcoin Trust and self-custody as complementary options serving different investors.
