Bitcoin and Crypto Markets Surge to Start 'Uptober'
Crypto markets are experiencing a strong start to October, earning the nickname 'Uptober' due to its reputation as the best month of the year for digital assets. As of midday trading on Oct. 2, Bitcoin's price has reached $85,400, up about 2% over the past 24 hours.
This surge in value is not limited to Bitcoin, with Ethereum (ETH) and Dogecoin (DOGE) also seeing significant gains. The strong start to October continues a hot streak for Bitcoin that began at the end of August and carried on throughout September.
Bitcoin's price has risen 42% in the third quarter, with most of this gain occurring in late August and early September. This marks a reversal from the 'crypto winter' that lasted until the end of summer, during which Bitcoin's price fell from $126,000 to a low of $58,000.
