Bitcoin-Backed Loans Could Reach $1T in 10 Years
Crypto lender Ledn has projected that the consumer Bitcoin-backed loan market could grow nearly 300-fold over the next decade, from roughly $3 billion today to as much as $1 trillion by 2036. The projection was published alongside research commissioned by Ledn and conducted by consumer insights firm Protocol Theory.
The study found that 88% of respondents said they would consider taking out a crypto-backed loan or credit product, while only 14% currently use one. This 'consideration-to-adoption gap' is described as 6-to-1.
According to the research, trust is the missing piece in the sector's growth. Ledn co-founder Mauricio Di Bartolomeo said, 'The demand side of the equation is solved,' but added that 'what's still catching up is the trust infrastructure that gives borrowers the confidence to act.'
