Bitcoin Blasts Past $81K Marking 15-Week Peak Amid Market Uptrend
Bitcoin's price surge has taken it past $81,000 for the first time since mid-May, marking a 15-week peak. The asset's dominance over the market has increased to 58% on CoinGecko and almost 60% on CoinMarketCap.
The sudden uptick in Bitcoin's price was sparked by a series of events, including the US Treasury Department's announcement and the White House Crypto Summit. This led to a sharp increase in the asset's value, reaching $70,000 within hours, before dipping back to $68,000 and then surging again to $75,000.
After a brief correction over the weekend, Bitcoin returned to its upward trend, pushing past $80,000 and eventually hitting $81,000. The asset's market cap has risen to $1.6 trillion, while its dominance over altcoins has increased significantly.
