Bitcoin Breaks Out, Nears Highest Level Since January Amid Weaker Jobs Data
Bitcoin is nearing its highest level since January, reaching above $86,700 after sellers partly filled and pulled remaining asks around $85,000, according to Glassnode. The onchain analytics firm said the next cluster of sell orders sits around $87,000, with about half as many at that level compared to the old $85,000 wall.
The market note from QCP Capital analysts said Bitcoin had broken out of the $82,500 to $85,700 range it traded in over the past week, topping $87,000 earlier on Friday. This puts Bitcoin 14.6% above its Sept. 15 low of $74,968 and nearing its best price since January.
QCP noted resistance at $87,400 and support at $82,500, with Bitcoin holding the lower level three times this week. The analysts said resistance at $87,400 is the 'gateway to $90,000.'
Weaker-than-expected U.S. jobs data, with 29,000 jobs added in September, below the 84,000 to 93,000 QCP had expected, added to the macro backdrop. Sygnum Bank Chief Investment Officer Fabian Dori said 'weak is not automatically bullish: soft-but-orderly supports the liquidity trade, a growth scare pulls risk assets, bitcoin potentially included.'
