Bitcoin Breaks Through $79k as Macro Factors and Regulatory Hopes Lift Prices

The price of Bitcoin surged over the past week, rising by more than 25% as it traded as high as $79,954 and briefly touched $80,000. This surge was driven in part by macroeconomic factors, including a decrease in yields following Treasury plans to double long-dated bond buybacks.

Additionally, positive regulatory signals from the White House meeting between President Donald Trump and crypto executives also contributed to the increase in Bitcoin's price. The Clarity Act, which aims to establish a framework for distinguishing between digital assets that are securities, commodities or payment stablecoins, is expected to be voted on in September.

U.S. investors have shown renewed interest in Bitcoin ETFs, with $1.9 billion in new cash being invested over the past week - the best week since October 2025. This surge in interest has led to a rise in prices for Bitcoin and other assets such as gold.
