Bitcoin is trading at $80,000, significantly above its 200-week moving average of $67,000, according to Michael Saylor, founder and executive chairman of Strategy (NASDAQ: MSTR). Saylor believes the next Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) bull market cycle has already begun, a welcome sign for crypto investors who have been waiting over a year for a rebound.
The 200-week moving average is a key metric for predicting Bitcoin's bull market rallies. Historically, it has marked the floor for Bitcoin bear markets. With the current price at $80,000, Bitcoin is trading well above this average, suggesting a strong upward trend.
Despite this positive outlook, Bitcoin lacks clear catalysts to push its price higher heading into 2027. The Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failed to pass in September, and macroeconomic indicators remain weak, with rising oil prices, inflation, and Treasury yields. The Federal Reserve is also expected to raise rates, adding to the pessimistic outlook.
The primary catalyst for Bitcoin's growth remains institutional adoption. As long as banks, financial institutions, and digital asset treasury companies continue to embrace Bitcoin, the price should rise. Saylor did not set a specific price target but noted a high likelihood of Bitcoin hitting $100,000 within the next 12 months. Some investors even speculate that Bitcoin could reach $200,000 next year.
