Bitcoin Consolidates Near $85,000 Amid Mixed US Economic Signals
Bitcoin faced pressure on Tuesday (October 6), trading between $85,000 and $86,000 after nearing $87,000 earlier. Investors weighed rising US Treasury yields against expectations of a less aggressive Federal Reserve. Ethereum hovered near $2,700, while XRP and Solana were around $1.50 and $120, respectively.
Nischal Shetty, Founder of WazirX, noted that Bitcoin is consolidating, with support around $84,000, $85,000 and resistance near $87,000, $88,000. Minal Thukral, Executive VP at CoinDCX, highlighted bearish pressure on Bitcoin, trading at $85,400, and Ethereum struggling above $2,700. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index stood at 67, indicating a “greed” zone.
Prateek Gupta of Mudrex observed Bitcoin consolidating around $85,600, $86,000, below its 2026 opening level of $87,570. US macroeconomic developments, including weak September employment data and rising Treasury yields, continued to influence sentiment. Riya Sehgal of Delta Exchange identified key resistance at $86,500, $87,600 and support at $83,600, $84,700.
Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus, noted that weak jobs data supported easier US monetary policy, but mixed ETF flows could sustain volatility. Institutional activity remained strong, with US spot Bitcoin ETFs recording $241 million in weekly net inflows. Purvang Mashru of BitDelta India reported a 0.9% fall in Bitcoin to $85,976, with support near $85,500 and resistance around $86,500, $87,000.
Market participants awaited US inflation data on October 14 and the Federal Reserve meeting on October 27-28, with Treasury yields, the dollar, and oil prices likely to drive crypto sentiment.
