The post-quantum security roadmap aims to proactively protect against potential threats from quantum computing by providing end-to-end security for the blockchain infrastructure, validators, private states, and wallets. The plan focuses on providing a comprehensive solution to the long-term risk.
Bitcoin developers have proposed a key priority for layer-1 network to accomplish quantum resistance across data layers, consensus, and execution by December 2029. This timeline coincides with phased migration plans from institutions including Microsoft, Cloudflare, and Google, which set December 2029 as the deadline for transitioning to post-quantum cryptography.
