Bitcoin ETFs Surge $5.3 Billion Since Treasury Buyback Announcement
Bitcoin spot ETFs have seen an influx of $5.3 billion in investments since the U.S. Treasury announced its plan to increase long-dated bond buybacks, according to Nate Geraci, an ETF analyst.
The Treasury's announcement on August 19 stated that it would increase the maximum size of liquidity-support buybacks involving longer-dated nominal Treasury securities from $2 billion to at least $4 billion each. This change took effect on September 9 and is scheduled to remain in place through November 4.
Geraci noted that the timing of the ETF recovery coincided with the Treasury's announcement, which led to a surge in investments in Bitcoin funds. In one week alone, U.S. spot Bitcoin funds drew approximately $2.39 billion over five consecutive positive sessions, making it the largest weekly total since October 2025.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust led the period with approximately $1.16 billion, while Fidelity's FBTC attracted $701.6 million. The funds have now collected approximately $57.6 billion in cumulative net inflows since their January 2024 launch, while total net assets stood near $108.4 billion at the end of Friday.
