Bitcoin Futures Open Interest Tops $50B: A Sign of Healthy Leverage or Warning Sign?
Bitcoin's market is showing signs of vitality, according to David Lawant, head of research at Anchorage Digital. The Bitcoin futures open interest has surpassed $50 billion for the first time this year, which Lawant views as a sign of healthy leverage rather than a warning sign.
This increase in open interest is accompanied by rising spot volume and thinning order books, which indicate that the market may be entering a new 'bullish regime', according to Lawant. He attributes these changes to the early stages of a Bitcoin market upturn.
The liquidity absorption ratio, which measures the rate at which orders are being filled, has also increased, suggesting that demand for Bitcoin is outstripping supply. This, combined with the thinning order books, implies that buyers are becoming more aggressive in their pursuit of Bitcoin.
