Bitcoin Japan (formerly Hotta Marusho) has announced its first-ever Bitcoin acquisition, with an initial investment of up to $1 million. The company will execute the purchase through BTC JPN Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary in the Cayman Islands.

The funds for this investment will come from a portion of the ¥1.5 billion raised through convertible bonds issued in July and transferred to the subsidiary on September 18th. This move marks a significant step forward for the company, which has been positioning Bitcoin as a long-term strategic asset aimed at enhancing intrinsic value per share.

Bitcoin Japan's board of directors approved the launch of a Bitcoin treasury business as a new venture in a meeting held on September 17th. The company plans to make selective acquisitions based on market conditions and will consider yield generation through lending and derivatives under its risk management framework.
