The global Bitcoin network reached a significant milestone when it surpassed the 1 ZettaHash mark in 2025. Additionally, the network has seen an increase in hash rate by 104% in 2024, with a corresponding rise in Bitcoin prices of over 256% during the first quarter of that year.
The US holds a substantial 37.84% of the global hashrate, followed closely by Canada at 6.48%. The Asia-Pacific region includes notable contributors such as Singapore (1.96%), Australia (3.13%), and Malaysia (2.51%). Europe accounts for around 5-10% of the market share.
Interestingly, the energy profile of Bitcoin mining varies geographically, with hydroelectric power acting as a backbone in regions like Quebec, British Columbia, Norway, and Sichuan. Wind power provides energy in West Texas and the Midwestern United States, while solar power usage grows in California, Australia, and the Middle East.
