Bitcoin Mining Under Pressure: Marathon Aims for 50 EH/s Amid Rising Difficulty
The Bitcoin network has seen significant fluctuations in difficulty and pool shifts, affecting miners' operations. The latest retarget on September 5 adjusted the difficulty to 127.45 trillion, marking the eighth upward move of the year. Foundry USA controls 24.9 percent of the market with 243.7 EH/s, followed by AntPool's 19.63 percent and 192.1 EH/s.
Marathon Digital Holdings aims to reach a capacity of 50 EH/s to scale its mining operations. The company has increased its average operational hash rate to 25.7 EH/s in May, a 22 percent improvement over April. Marathon's operating fleet includes 246,000 Bitcoin miners capable of 30.6 EH/s.
The company manages several sites with specific outputs, including Kearney, Nebraska, which generates 2.3 EH/s. Meanwhile, the network hashrate fluctuates between 880 and 950 EH/s, settling around 900 to 912 EH/s after recent retargets. Bitmain's price reductions for mining hardware have contributed to increased competition in the industry.
