Bitcoin Plunges Below $86K Amid PCE Data Uncertainty
Bitcoin's price slipped below $86K after the release of US Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) data, which showed lower-than-expected inflation but raised uncertainty due to changes in methodology.
The August PCE print came in at 3.4% year-on-year, below expectations of 3.7%, and core PCE rose 3.0% year-on-year, excluding food and energy.
However, the BEA reported updates tied to 'portfolio management and investment advice,' 'computer software and accessories,' and 'legal services' that can shift how 'core' inflation is measured and compared to prior prints.
A new estimated liquidation exposure cluster of roughly $60 million appeared near $83,000, close to a support zone around $82,500. This cluster can amplify short-term volatility if price drifts toward the area.
