Bitcoin Poised to Challenge Gold's Market Supremacy in Next Bull Cycle
Binance co-founder Changpeng 'CZ' Zhao believes that Bitcoin could overtake gold's market value in the next bull cycle. According to CZ, the current gap between gold and Bitcoin is about 10 times larger, with gold having a deeper global market and established reserve infrastructure.
Zhao made this prediction at the Bitcoin Asia 2026 conference in Hong Kong on August 27. He noted that major countries have built complete valuation, reserve, and trading systems around gold, making it difficult for Bitcoin to replace it quickly. However, CZ expects a shift towards digital assets, with Bitcoin representing more than 50% of strategic crypto holdings alongside Ethereum (ETH) and BNB (BNB).
CZ also linked wider crypto adoption to artificial intelligence, stating that stablecoins are likely to become the first digital assets used broadly by AI systems. He expects AI-assisted trading to develop before AI-driven payments, as trading depends on rapid information processing, news reaction, and chart analysis.
