Bitcoin Poised to Disrupt Private Equity with Permanent Capital
Nico Lechuga, founding partner at Ego Death Capital and co-founder of ORANGE JUICE, believes Bitcoin can revolutionize the private equity industry. Traditional private equity funds have a limited lifespan, typically running seven to ten years, which forces businesses to be flipped in three to five years.
This approach keeps owner-operators on a clock, Lechuga explains. However, permanent capital and a Bitcoin treasury could provide an alternative solution for business owners. Permanent holding companies can allocate free cash flow as needed, without the constraints of traditional fund models.
According to Lechuga, this approach allows businesses to focus on growth rather than being forced into short-term gains. He emphasizes that owner-operators possess frontline intelligence and should be at the forefront of decision-making processes. Roll-ups, which involve consolidating smaller companies under a single entity, can also benefit from permanent capital.
