Bitcoin Posts Quantum-Resistant Roadmap with P2MR and SHRINCS
Bitcoin's post-quantum roadmap is gaining clarity as two pivotal proposals gain traction. Pay-to-Merkle-Root (P2MR) and SHRINCS are being developed to enhance Bitcoin's security against potential quantum computing threats.
The BIP-360 draft aims to reduce long-term public-key exposure while creating an upgrade path for future quantum-resistant signatures, according to Protocol Watch founder Christine D. Kim.
P2MR is designed to minimize long-term public key exposure to potential threats, while SHRINCS is a hash signature scheme developed by Blockstream Research to support the upgrade path and ensure future compatibility.
