Bitcoin Price Drops Below $82,700 as Liquidity Hunting Halts Upside Momentum
Bitcoin's price took a hit on Monday as it dropped to weekly lows. The cryptocurrency fell below $82,700 for the first time since September 21, according to data from TradingView.
The downturn came after over $30 million in ask liquidity was added to exchange order books at around $85,700. This sudden appearance of liquidity often signals a calculated attempt by large traders to influence price direction.
CoinGlass data showed that the drop liquidated nearby long positions, totaling around $70 million over 24 hours. The price action was accompanied by downside in US stocks futures after President Donald Trump refused to rule out further military strikes on Iran.
Aksel Kibar, a markets commentator, warned that Bitcoin's performance did not resemble a 'decisive breakout,' even prior to dropping below $83,000. He cautioned that hesitant price action can result in price returning inside the range between $60,000 and $80,000 where BTC/USD traded for much of 2026.
